Hospital Services Corporation (HSC) was formed in 1985 as a wholly-owned subsidiary of the New Mexico Hospital Association (NMHA), a statewide trade association of hospitals that pay membership dues on a voluntary basis.

HSC was originally established to develop and offer services to the NMHA member hospitals, but has evolved and diversified its services to attract a broader range of healthcare customers such as health plans, physician offices, and medical clinics, as well as large and small businesses outside of the healthcare industry. Customers include those based in New Mexico and in eighteen other states.

Troy Clark, CHAIR

Troy Clark began this role as leader of the NMHA in August of 2020.  Previously serving as the Vice President of Regional Operations for Presbyterian Healthcare Services, he brings extensive knowledge of hospital business and a passion for finding ways to sustainably provide quality healthcare services to communities throughout the state.

Troy has over 20 years of experience in operational and financial healthcare roles including physician practice management, ambulatory surgical centers, specialty hospitals, rural and critical access hospitals, large hospital systems, opening five new hospitals, and working in for-profit, not-for profit and academic environments. He is a former member of the NMHA Board of Directors, PAC Steering Committee and PARC Committee. He earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Accounting from Brigham Young University and his CPA designation before venturing into healthcare. 

FUN FACTS: During the pandemic Troy has become an avid Pickleball player. He enjoys hiking in the great outdoors.


David Shaw, Vice-CHaIR

David Shaw accepted the position of Chief Executive Officer at Nor-Lea Hospital District (NLHD) in 1999. He has previously served as Chief Financial Officer and later as Chief Executive Officer at Pecos County Memorial Hospital in Fort Stockton Texas.

In 1999, NLHD employed 5 providers and 89 staff members. Today, there are 65 providers and over 550 staff members.  The hospital is one of the largest Critical Access Hospitals in the country with approximately $125 million in net patient revenue and performing over 180,000 outpatient visits and nearly 110,000 clinic visits.  

NLHD under David's tenure has also received national awards in customer and employee engagement.  In 2017 David Shaw was recognized statewide for his leadership skills with the “Don Chambers Passion for Excellence Award”.  Nor-Lea Hospital District was named in 2018 as the recipient of the Quality New Mexico’s “Zia Award for Performance Excellence” New Mexico’s highest award for business excellence.

David has a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Texas of the Permian Basin.

FUN FACT: David has climbed Mt. Whitney,  elevation 14, 505’. His next mountain climbing adventure is Denali in Alaska with a summit elevation of 20,310.’


Derrick Jones, SECRETARY/TREASURER

Derrick Jones brings 23 years of acute and post-acute hospital experience to his role at Lovelace Westside Hospital, working with organizations such as Catholic Health initiatives, Ascension Health, HealthSouth, and Lovelace Health System. He worked in operations with 8 different hospitals before he transitioned into the role of the CEO of HealthSouth hospital in Midland Texas.

During his term with HealthSouth hospital, the facility received the highest patient satisfaction award in the Texas region in 2009 and was also recognized as the most improved hospital in 2010 and again in 2011. His career at Lovelace has been equally impressive. He was CEO for Lovelace (now Lovelace UNM) Rehabilitation Hospital for nine years, and in 2017, Derrick successfully lead Lovelace Rehabilitation Hospital into a joint venture with UNM.

Derrick earned a Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Administration from Auburn University and an MBA and Master of Science Healthcare Administration from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He has served on the American Hospital Association Governance Council for Long Term and IP Rehab Facilities and many other boards and committees.

Christina Campos

Christina Campos, MBA, began her career in health care as a hospital volunteer and community “encourager” under the Mountain States Health Corporation’s community health development program.  She soon became Finance Officer for the small frontier hospital and later served as a member of the Clinical Operations Board of the University of New Mexico Hospital in Albuquerque.

As Administrator, Campos has reinvigorated the small hospital, improving and expanding services, training and recruiting local staff, and eliminating all agency and traveling staff. She spearheaded the planning, financing, design and construction of a replacement facility which opened in June 2011 (and was paid for in full in April 2021). Since then, the frontier hospital has been recognized as a model of design, quality and patient care.

Campos is a former chair of NMHA, a national speaker on rural healthcare and ensuring access to care for vulnerable communities, and a former member of the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors, American Hospital Association.

FUN FACT:  Christina was the University of New Mexico Homecoming Queen in 1983.


Frank CorCoran

Frank Corcoran, BSN, MHA, CEO of Sierra Vista Hospital, is an experienced healthcare leader in academic health systems, large health systems, community hospitals, and turnaround projects. A Registered Nurse since 1991, Frank joined Sierra Vista Hospital as a member of the turnaround project team of 2018-2019 and became CEO in 2021.

A graduate of Louisiana State University, Frank is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Fun Fact:  An outdoor enthusiast and former baseball player, Frank is a coach and former adventure racer.


Darlene Fernandez

Darlene Fernandez is a Certified Public Accountant with over 25 years of financial experience. Fernandez serves as the CFO of UNM Sandoval Regional Medical Center (SRMC), a not-for-profit healthcare Medical Center in Sandoval County. She began her career with UNM Health System in 2003. With an accounting degree from the University of New Mexico, she has lead various teams ranging from Accounting, Budget, Patient Financial Services, Revenue Cycle, Patient Access, Case Management, and Materials Management to Food & Nutrition Services. In her current role as a Chief Financial Officer, she serves as an advisor to the CEO of UNM SRMC.

Prior to joining UNM, Darlene served as an Assistant Controller for Presbyterian Healthcare Services. She started her career at Sun Healthcare, a publically traded company. Fernandez also worked for United Healthcare, a healthcare insurance organization. Darlene has a wide range of healthcare finance experience.


Jim Heckert

Jim Heckert has been CEO at Gerald Champion Regional Medical Center (GCRMC) since 2008. Prior to coming to Alamogordo, Jim served as the CEO of Daviess Community Hospital in Washington, Indiana. While in Indiana, he served on the Board of Directors for the Indiana Hospital and Health Association and as Chairman of the Council on Rural Health. In 2001, he retired from the U.S. Army having served 30 years in various assignments including Executive Officer at the Office of the Surgeon General in Falls Church, Virginia, and Chief of Staff at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C.

Jim is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, member of the Alamogordo Rotary Club, Otero County United Way and Leadership New Mexico. He is a past Chairman of the New Mexico Hospital Association and was also selected by the American College of Healthcare Executives as the leading rural hospital CEO in NM and southwest Texas. He was honored with the Helen Kirk Award by Otero County United Way for his community efforts in 2009 and received American Hospital Association Grassroots Champion recognition for advocating for rural health care in 2013 and 2015.  In 2020, he received NM School Boards’ Association Excellence in Student Achievement Award.

FUN FACT:  Jim has a green thumb.


Angela Pedroza

Angela Pedroza is an accomplished healthcare executive with 25+ years’ progressive experience in non-profit healthcare.

She currently serves as the Vice President of Finance, Medical Centers, at Presbyterian Healthcare Services, where she oversees the financial operations for nine hospitals located through the state. She is responsible for every aspect of hospital finance function including strategy, budgeting, cost control, analysis, forecast, cost accounting, and financial reporting. Angela is passionate about leadership and adept at directing, streamlining, and reorganizing large and diverse teams for maximum organizational productivity.

With a focus on effective leadership, she has completed several courses on the subject, including Executive Excellence and Leadership Fundamentals. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Business Accounting from the University of Phoenix.

Angela is an active member of her church. She also serves as staff to the Board of Directors for Presbyterian Central New Mexico.

As a life-long New Mexican, she loves adventure and green chili. She is married and has two lovely children. Away from work, she enjoys running, hiking, music, and spending time with family and friends.


Warren Yehl

Warren Yehl, MHA, the CEO of Eastern New Mexico Medical Center, has more than ten years of experience in healthcare, steadily assuming additional responsibilities over four facilities between Texas and New Mexico. He has worked within the New Mexico markets since 2013, serving as Chief Operating Officer at Easter New Mexico Medical Center in Roswell and as Chief Operating Officer at Mountain View Regional Medical Center.

He is married to Barbara (a third-generation native New Mexican from Hobbs) and has four children )Henry, Miriam, Teegan, and Branson). he is an active board member for the Roswell Symphony Orchestra and the Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development Corporation for Roswell and Chaves County. He currently sits on the New Mexico Hospital Associations’ MHA finance committee. Both he and his wife are active in foster care and adoption advocacy, having adopted their two youngest from the New Mexico Children Youth and Families Department system. Barbara has helped found a foster care support group in Rosewell.

Warren earned his undergraduate and Master’s in Healthcare Administration degrees at Trinity University in San Antonio, TX.

FUN FACT:  Warren has fished the Fjords in Norway.

 

HSC Leadership


Erika Campos

Erika Campos brings over 25 years of experience in healthcare leadership.  Before joining HSC in March of 2021, Erika led Strategic Planning, Business Development and Population Health for CHRISTUS St. Vincent/CHRISTUS New Mexico including service on the national CHRISTUS Health Strategy Council and graduation from the CHRISTUS Leadership & Ethics Academy. Prior to CHRISTUS, she was a leader at Lovelace Health System and at Presbyterian Healthcare Services. Early in her career, she consulted for a variety of companies in healthcare delivery and health insurance, as well as various other industries, throughout the United States.

Erika was educated at the University of Richmond in Virginia.  A four-year Army ROTC College Scholarship winner, Erika served in the United States Army Reserves as an Adjutant General 1st Lieutenant. In addition to her work with HSC, she currently serves on the board of Homewise, an affordable housing nonprofit.

FUN FACT:  Erika was a radio DJ for WDCE radio Richmond throughout college.


Lori Griego

Lori Griego has over 25 years of Human Resources experience.  Of those 25 years, Lori has worked more than 18 of them with Hospital Services Corporation.  Before coming to work with Hospital Services Corporation, Lori worked as a Construction Safety Manager.  Lori has a PHR certification through Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI) and SHRM-CP through the Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM).  Lori is a pet mom and loves her four– legged baby.

FUN FACT:  Lori Enjoys travelling and has skied the Swiss Alps, including the lower part of the Matterhorn (not the one in Disneyland)!


Jody Belkofer

Jody Belkofer oversees financial activities for the NMHA subsidiary, Hospital Services Corporation (HSC), the Association, and its five affiliated entities. The diversity of the entities in structure and mission provides her a fulfilling purpose and busy days. During her 15-year tenure, she has found the service provided to members across multiple service lines most rewarding.

Prior to HSC, Jody worked at Enterprise Rent-A-Car as the Accounting Supervisor spanning eight years and from Albuquerque to Las Vegas, NV.  After enough sweltering summers, Jody returned home New Mexico and is raising her three children here.

Jody holds a bachelor of Business Administration degree from West Texas A&M University and earned her master’s degree in business administration from Capella University.

FUN FACT:  Jody and her twin sister, Jennifer, communicate 621 times a day (phone, text, email, telepathically).


Scott Mozeley

Scott Mozeley brings over 30 years’ experience in software and hardware technology. Before joining HSC 5 years ago, Scott was a senior software engineer for Baker Hughes creating software to model thousands of feet underground and provide scientific and engineering information for making decisions about further drilling or exploration.

Prior, he worked for the Finnish company Polar, planning and writing software sold worldwide and localized for 13 languages; it created specialized fitness improvement programs for athletes used by physiologists and trainers by collecting muscular strength and cardiovascular data from fitness devices during testing. Earlier, he worked for the Danish company Navision Financials helping to sell, implement and customize the financial management software later acquired by Microsoft in 2002 for 1.5 billion dollars and becoming what is now known as Microsoft Dynamics.  

Before 2000, he worked as manufacturing engineer building high mix high technology surface mount lines and assembly prototypes and later for Nokia as a surface mount process engineer on the latest flip-phone of the time.  Scott is a certified Scrum Master a member of IEEE Computer Society for 14 years. He holds a master’s degree in computer science from Colorado Technical University.

FUN FACT: Scott went to middle school and high school with Chris and Rich Robinson of the Black Crowes. When he was around 12,  Chris and Rich did an impromptu duet version of Elton John’s Crocodile Rock in choir class...it was mind-blowing.


Cindy Clark

Cindy Clark has twenty-eight years of workers’ compensation experience and five years as a Supervisor and Manager in Risk Management. She has been employed with Hospital Services now for seventeen years. Cindy has worked very closely with our customers’ and the Board of Directors. She has worked with the New Mexico Hospital Workers’ Compensation Group Premium Discount Task Force assisting the members of the group make changes to these programs in order to reduce injuries and assist members with premium discounts.

Cindy is a licensed agent, and she places the excess insurance for several self-insured Groups and Self Insured employers.


Christina Tyson

Christina has a combined 24 years of healthcare experience, including managed care, development of provider and facility education materials/process improvement, claims resolution, overall medical office operations, patient relations, privileging credentialing and provider enrollment.  She directs operational activities for multiple lines of business including credentials verification, provider enrollment, background investigations and fingerprint services. Christina is responsible for the development and implementation of policies and procedures, employee and customer training, overseeing processing activity and evaluating department workload needs. Christina is focused on process improvements to improve consistency, efficiency, customer service and satisfaction.

FUN FACT:  Christina loves to travel.  During a trip in her early 20’s she met hockey player, Eric Lindros, after the boat she was on crashed into the island in front of his cottage in Canada.

Bernadette Armijo

Bernadette Armijo works with customers all over the country to connect organizations with efficient process solutions.  She is passionate about being a part of the process in providing quality healthcare services for patients and providers.  She has 25 years of Human Resources, Workforce and Economic Development, Training, Recruitment and Leadership experience in the healthcare, education and financial industries.

Before joining the team at Hospital Services Corporation, Bernadette was the Central New Mexico Regional Manager for a not-for–profit organization, Ser Jobs for Progress, Inc. Bernadette has received excellent and diverse professional training from organizations such as Qwest, Citigroup, Lovelace Health Systems and the University of Chicago.

Fun Fact:  An artist and a writer at heart, Bernadette is currently working on two projects, a coffee table book titled ‘Brewery Haikus’ and a sketchbook submission for the Sketchbook Project in collaboration with the Brooklyn Art Library.
