With the heightened need for PPE due to the novel coronavirus, and the cost and shortage of reliable PPE, the New Mexico Hospital Association and Hospital Services Corporation have partnered with PPE Exchange to present a way to leverage New Mexico’s group buying power so that organizations of all sizes can get the PPE they need to keep patients and staff safe.
Hospital Services Corporation has been working with the vendor PPE.Exchange to facilitate group orders. PPE.Exchange is an online PPE marketplace offering healthcare and frontline organizations, associations, government entities, and corporations the ability to source critical PPE and place group orders for bulk pricing. PPE.Exchange thoroughly verifies suppliers and products all while offering quality assurances.
The New Mexico Hospital Association group purchase pilot of PPE was made with PPE.Exchange and included several thousand isolation gowns and 3-ply face masks. Because of the size of the order, the group was able to negotiate a lower-than-expected price with no additional fees added to participate. Based on the success of the pilot, a second co-operative group purchase is currently being organized which is scheduled to include the following items:
· 3-Ply Face Masks
· BYD NIOSH approved N95 respirators
· Level 2, 43 GSM Isolation Gown
· Level 2, 50 GSM Isolation Gown
Hospital Services Corporation will be coordinating future group purchases as interest continues to grow. If your healthcare organization or association is interested in participating in future group purchases please contact Bernadette Armijo, Hospital Services Corporation Projects Coordinator, at firstname.lastname@example.org or Daniel Black, PPE Exchange Sales Representative, at email@example.com.
